I sometimes hear from people that they don’t want to use protein powder because it’s “so processed.” Listen, if you only want to eat 100% whole foods from scratch, you do you. No seriously, that’s really admirable. But there are lots of high-quality protein powders on the market now, and protein powders are no more “processed” than crackers if you find a good one. Still, I know different people prefer different types, so I compiled a list of all of my favorites in different categories.
But first, check my blog post here to find out what types of ingredients to avoid when choosing a protein powder.
F-Factor Organic Whey Protein – I love this protein powder because it includes so much fiber and it’s incredibly filling! You don’t even need to add additional fiber if you don’t want to. The only “con” to this brand is that it’s too sweet for me, so I usually half the serving and add plain collagen peptides to cut the sweetness.

Naked Grass-Fed Whey Protein – …or you could cut it with this “naked” whey protein that literally has one ingredient! Whey! The whey comes from grass-fed cows and the company even tests for heavy metals. This is a really high-quality protein product. Plus, it gives you enough to last you probably the rest of your life.

*I do not recommend using plant protein daily if pregnant or breastfeeding due to the number of heavy metals present in pea and rice-based proteins. If only using occasionally, it’s fine!*
Ora Organic Vegan Protein Powder – This protein is made with over 20 superfoods to deliver a complete amino acid profile and contains over 2 servings of greens in each serving of protein. It also contains digestive enzymes, so if you’ve been sensitive to plant protein in the past, this will take care of that issue for you. My personal favorite is the vanilla chai.
Protein: 21g Fat: 2.5g Carbs: 4g Fiber: 1.1g
(this being said, it’s nearly impossible to find a plant-based protein that doesn’t have somewhat of a chalky flavor, so if that’s a strong issue for you, check out the whey or collagen-based options)
*Collagen peptides are amazing for gut and joint health, as well as your hair, skin, and nails. However, it is not a complete protein so it’s the not the best option to use daily if you are using it as a post-workout protein to help build muscle.*
Further Food – I mean…I just love this company. They’ve had a great unflavored product for years, but their new Chocolate and Vanilla collagen peptides are to die for. Both are delicious mixed into coffee and both also contain superfood mushrooms. As always, you can use NUTRITIONADDICTION for 10% off.
Protein: 9g Fat: 0g Carbs: 1g Fiber: 1g
Perfect Supplements – This is a high-quality collagen peptide product that you can sneak into literally anything. Smoothies, soups, coffee, oatmeal. It mixes so well and has no flavor. Plus, I just love this company so much! Again, NUTRITIONADDICTION gets you 10% off always.

Designer Totally Egg Protein – YUM, this is such a delicious protein powder and continues to be one of my favorites. The chocolate and vanilla both taste like cake. This is a great option for those who can’t do dairy but are still looking for a complete protein. WARNING: do not buy this with the intention of using it in hot coffee. It will taste like cooked eggs and it will scar you.
